Naomi Larkin on this month’s issue.

Envy doesn’t rate in my emotional toolbox but levels were running unusually high during the compiling of this issue. This uncomfortable state was prompted by regular, pictorial missives from three good friends posted while travelling overseas and compounded by our very own Cruise Special (page 159). With the former, gal-pals were clinking glasses in summer climes and with the latter, Brook Sabin recounts his incredible encounter with hundreds of thousands of penguins, elephant seals and the most breathtaking scenery – all while cruising in luxury in frozen South Georgia. While such discontent is understandable when you’re in the same place day in, day out, the positive of this tale is that we can now travel, and travel we will! May the Cruise Special be the springboard for both dreams and concrete plans to transport yourself wherever.

Likewise, this issue’s homes offer lots of inspiration if glamming up your space is the goal. Our homeowners have defined luxe living via their personal style – from the lavish wallpapers, chandeliers and plush velvets of the revamped Eltham post office (page 90) to the relaxed glamour of our Home of the Month, historic Glen Aros Estate in Hawke’s Bay, complete with a large billiards room, resort-style pool, stables and horses (page 26).

We’ve also included hot new paint colours (page 42), lots of shelfie-worthy beauty products (pages 24 and 25) and plenty of shopping ideas throughout. So be gone green-eyed monster, there is much to celebrate and enjoy without leaving your armchair.
