Make sure the wasps are all gone!
I read with interest the Q&A in the June issue about getting rid of paper wasps. Barbara Smith had the idea to spray them with fly spray.
For many years when seeing a nest, I too would spray with fly spray then walk away. One day I went back to the nest and took the little cover off of one of the cells. Inside was a full grown paper wasp ready to hatch. It started to move so the nest was quickly dropped and I stood on it. I had sprayed the nest earlier that day.
Since that day I have checked the contents of the nest after spraying and generally found live wasps ready to hatch. So now I stand on the nests after all the outside wasps have died from the spray.
